East Kassandra

Kassandra is the most developed peninsula of the Halkidiki region on mainland Greece and a holiday hotspot boasting some of the most spectacular scenery in the country. Visitors return year after year to this popular destination which offers a great mix of resorts all within relatively easy reach of one another so it is the perfect place for exploring and somewhere difficult to tire of the same old scene. 

 

Kassandra Beaches

 

Kassandra is great for sun holidays and has the most renowned beaches in Halkidiki with miles of white sandy coastline often likened to those in the Caribbean! In 2015 an impressive 7 beaches achieved a Blue Flag award for cleanliness out of the 35 in all across the whole Halkidiki region. In Kassandra all seaside resorts have a well organised central beach where the beachfront cafe bars play subtle music and offer sunbeds and umbrellas for their guests. There are also many glamourous and upmarket choices of beach bars mostly just outside of the towns where there is more of a lively atmosphere geared towards a younger crowd and sunbeds have waiter service! For those who want to escape the hoards however Kassandra really does cater for everyone as even in the height of the summer you can still find enough secluded hideaways where pine trees provide natural shade from the sun. 

 

Kassandra Services

 

Kassandria is a large market town located in the centre of Kassandra Halkidiki. This is the 'capital' of the peninsula which is where you can find all the main services. There is a small emergency hospital for minor injuries, a number of private specialist doctors, dentists as well as a number of independent pharmacies. The local authorities for the municipality of Kassandra are based in Kassandria too including the forestry department and registry office. The emergency services (fire, police and ambulance) also originate from here. National bank of Greece and Pireus bank both have branches in the town centre whilst Alpha bank is located in Kallithea only a 5 minute drive away. A main post office is situated in Kassandria where it's possible to rent a PO Box. There are also several branches of courier services (ACS, Geniki Taxidromiki). Kassandria has many lawyers, notaries and civil engineers who specialise in property issues. Every Tuesday throughout the year Kassandria houses a big and hugely popular farmers market where you can buy fresh produce including fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, honey, olive oil, clothing and household goods. Lastly they also have three garden centres selling everything for the green fingered!

 

 

Kassandra Properties

 

Kassandra offers a rich property market with the greatest variety of different options. It is the most developed region in Halkidiki and this competition helps in turn to keep the prices sensible. There are all types of properties for sale and to rent including studio, one and two bedroom apartments, detached houses, maisonettes, villas, luxury properties, new houses, properties in need of renovation, beach houses as well as plots of land for self build projects.

 

 

Kassandra Landscape

 

Technically Kassandra is an island but it is permanently connected to the mainland by a bridge at Potidea. The landscape is truly magnificent. Kassandra is a very green area, with fields of olive groves and vast areas of pine forest across the peak, which is a mountain running between the East and West coasts from the town of Kassandria until the end of the peninsula. It has a stunning white sandy coastline dipping into the clear blue Aegean Sea. Pine trees can actually be found growing by the sea and even on the beach in this area!

 

 

Kassandra Climate

 

Despite being situated in Northern Greece and close to the city of Thessaloniki, the climate in this area is still Mediterranean with hot dry summers and mild winters. It does rain on occasion but these tend to be short storms which soon pass. The West coast of Kassandra benefits from having an open sea in the high season which really helps to cool the atmosphere and lower the humidity when the temperatures soar into the forties.
