Nea Skioni is a quaint fishing village located on the western coast of the Kassandra peninsula just over an hours drive from Thessaloniki. This part of the peninsula is actually orientated south because the 'finger' bends so naturally it enjoys the maximum hours of sunshine in a day and has a spectacular view of the sunset behind Mount Olympus. One of the great things about Nea Skioni is that you can also very easily access the east coast. There is an 7km road over the mountain so you can be in the bustling tourist resort of Hanioti in 10 minutes. The sea in this area is a more open bay, which makes the humidity lower so it feels a little cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. It is also one of the few resorts which has a small community residing all year around with shops and services open for business off season.
Nea Skioni is a well maintained, family friendly place. People like the village because it has a traditional character. There are no superstores or big resort hotels, just small local businesses. The beach is long, wide and sandy and never overcrowded. There are sunbeds and parasols in front of the beachfront taverns free of charge to their customers. For children there is a playground and volleyball pitch on the beach and in the harbour a big square lined with benches where the little ones can safely run or cycle around. The kiosks also bring some small fairground rides and games in the summer to entertain children of all ages.
The focal point of Nea Skioni is most definitely the waterfront. It has a peaceful and picturesque harbour used by small fishing and sailing boats and in the summer the occasional catamaran and yacht bound for the nearby Sporades Islands. Astonishingly you can dock a boat free of charge.??
In Nea Skioni you can find all types of property. Residential apartments, small complexes of 2 or 3 bedroom bedroom maisonettes, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom detached houses, small village houses, traditional and modern styles, mountain houses, beachfront properties and luxury villas.
