Halkidiki (Chalkidiki) is a region located on the north-east coast of mainland Greece, characterised by its three-legged peninsulas, Kassandra, Sithonia and Athos, which stretch out like fingers into the entrancing Aegean sea.
 
It is a unique area offering a diverse collection of pretty traditional Greek villages and modern tourist resorts along its vast coastline.  Halkidiki is a popular holiday destination which enjoys a Mediterranean climate with sunshine throughout the year and mild winters.  The landscape boasts intoxicating crystal clear waters, many awarding winning white sandy beaches, pine-clad hills, olive groves and is scattered throughout with fruitful citrus trees.
 
Asides this magnificent unspoilt scenery, the area also offers many fascinating archaeological and historical sites.
 
 
 
Kalithea in Greek means ‘beautiful view’ and it is obvious why to the many visitors who flock to this scenic town.  It is a lively resort which is regarded as the capital of nightlife and attracts hoards of party-goers during the summer season to the many bars and clubs which are located on a dedicated complex at the edge of the town. 
 
 
 
Hanioti (Chanioti) offers a wide and abundant variety of property options including 2 storey maisonettes with gardens, apartments with sea views and luxury beachfront villas.  It is arguably  the most popular seaside resort in Halkidiki with a plethora of hotels, a beautiful long stretch of sandy beach and bustling central square with surrounding streets housing numerous bars, eateries, shops and boutiques. 
 
 
 
Polichrono is a small village which is separated into two distinct areas; the older more traditional quarter set inland and a newer modern development on the seafront where there is a superb sandy beach lined with Greek tavernas, cafes and bars.  It located on the East coast of Kassandra conveniently within easy reach of the bigger and busier tourist resorts of Hanioti and Kriopigi. 
 
 
 
Paliouri is situated near the end of the Kassandra peninsula and benefits from outstanding natural beauty in one of the most picturesque areas but is only a short drive from the cosmopolitan Pefkohori.  There is a long, sandy beach in a sheltered cove 2km from the centre of the village which has trendy beach bars and water games.  The main village is traditional in style and is centred around a square dotted with some excellent restaurants which specialise in Greek meat dishes, shops selling local produce and traditional gifts.
 
 
 
Loutra was given its name which translates as ‘baths’ because the village is home to a natural thermal spa.  The spa waters are renowned for their healing properties and visitors with skin and rheumatic disorders attend for the natural alternative therapy.  It is one of the smaller resorts with a relaxed atmosphere and has a peaceful sandy beach in a sheltered bay which is perfect for swimming.  There are just a couple of small and friendly hotels, a few café bars on the beachfront and some popular fish restaurants. 
 
 
 
Nea Skioni is a charming fishing village with typical winding streets which is located on the west coast of Kassandra and is the final harbour on the mainland when sailing before reaching the Sporade Islands (Skiathos, Skopelos, Alonisos).  There is a wide sandy beach, an attractive harbour and busy waterfront with a variety of restaurants, cafes, bars and some great tavernas where you can sample the fresh fish and seafood brought in daily by the local fishermen.  You can find properties for sale and to rent suiting all budgets from studios apartments to luxury villas with sea views.
 
 
 
Siviri is the perfect family-friendly village resort situated on the west coast of Kassandra offering a well organised long sandy beach alongside a small collection of tavernas, beach bars, cafes and souvenir shops.  Siviri is particularly renowned for its amphitheatre where the annual ‘Kassandra Festival’ events are staged every summer attracting a world-wide audience to a variety of theatrical, musical, dance and fine art shows.  There are an abundance of properties for sale or to rent available short term or all year round.
 
 
 
Sani is the most exclusive area of all in Halkidiki and is easily accessible by road, only 30 minutes’ drive from the airport.  The Sani Resort complex offers a collection of 5* hotels suiting both couples and families, luxurious spas, spectacular immaculate beaches, a first-class marina, stylish boutiques, gourmet restaurants and ambient bars.  The service and facilities within the complex are internationally highly commended.  Adjacent to The Sani Resort, there are some luxury modern private villas with pools and gardens available to buy.
 
 
 
Possidi’s main tourist attraction is the longest sandy beach in the whole of Halkidiki! The sanctuary of Poseidon also draws in visitors, which is a church built to honour the sea god after whom the resort is said to be named.  It is a peaceful, up-market resort which offers a few of well-regarded seafood restaurants, a couple of trendy beach bars and higher quality accommodation with luxury villas available for sale.  The area is also a popular destination for camping during the summer holidays.
